¹² Did I conceive all these people? Did I give them birth? Why do you tell me to carry them in my arms, as a nurse carries an infant,^(A) to the land you promised on oath^(B) to their ancestors?^(C)

⁴⁴ You belong to your father, the devil,^(A) and you want to carry out your father’s desires.^(B) He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.^(C)

²⁷ If an unbeliever invites you to a meal and you want to go, eat whatever is put before you^(A) without raising questions of conscience.

⁶ When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”

²⁶ Saul^(A) was going along one side of the mountain, and David and his men were on the other side, hurrying to get away from Saul. As Saul and his forces were closing in on David and his men to capture them,

²⁵ He jammed^[a] the wheels of their chariots so that they had difficulty driving. And the Egyptians said, “Let’s get away from the Israelites! The Lord is fighting^(A) for them against Egypt.”^(B)

²⁴ “Say to the assembly, ‘Move away from the tents of Korah, Dathan and Abiram.’”

⁴⁵ “Get away from this assembly so I can put an end^(A) to them at once.” And they fell facedown.

Paul’s Longing to Visit Rome

⁸ First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you,^(A) because your faith is being reported all over the world.^(B)

²¹ Then Abner said to David, “Let me go at once and assemble all Israel for my lord the king, so that they may make a covenant^(A) with you, and that you may rule over all that your heart desires.”^(B) So David sent Abner away, and he went in peace.
